Hey,
Hi, I’m Nimisha Kantharia
Surgeon. Mother. Artist. Writer. Mindfulness teacher.
Also: inveterate bookworm, self-proclaimed nerd, proud ADHD-er, connoisseur of art supplies, and steward of tomorrow.
TL;DR: I teach deeply caring independent thinkers how to expand their capacity for aliveness.
And I do it through a blend of:
💠 trauma-aware mindfulness
💠 somatic work
💠 joyful creativity (yes, adult humans need crayons)
💠 radical self-acceptance
💠 and deep systems-thinking about the world we live in.
So how did I get here?
My dream career made me deeply unhappy.
I was a surgeon working in intense, high-stakes Indian hospitals, doing work that was intensely meaningful but I was miserable inside
Then I became a mother.
And suddenly, I couldn’t bear to be away from my child. She became both my muse and my North Star, and the work of mothering taught me to be infinitely kinder to myself. I dove into inner work:
– therapy, mindfulness, and nervous system healing
– studying neuroscience and trauma, and eventually – art, as a way back to joy
This is how becoming a mother changed how I lived.
Why I do this work:
Because too many smart, thoughtful people are stuck in survival mode, self-criticism, and burnout — even when life looks “good on paper.”
Because the world is designed to drain us — especially caregivers, women, and those doing mission-driven work.
And because I believe that your inner work fuels collective change.
We’re not just here to cope — we’re here to create, lead, and shape the future.
What I want for you:
To wake up and not dread the day.
To feel creative again.
To stop over-functioning and start feeling.
To live a life where you’re not constantly bracing for impact.
To build capacity — for joy, for grief, for growth, for love.
Want to start?
Read this essay that people keep telling me made them cry (in a good way).
Join my Incandescent Joy Challenge — 5 days to reconnect with your aliveness. Or just send me a message. Seriously. I love hearing from real humans.
Fun stuff:
- I live in Nagpur, India
- My daughter brought crayons back into my life
- I can nerd out about mindfulness and children’s picture books in the same breath
- I believe beauty is resistance, and play is power
One more thing:
This work — healing, expanding, expressing — it doesn’t make you selfish.
It makes you a good future ancestor.
And I’m here to help you become one. 🦋
